I trust the U.S. Supreme Court

It is not predictable when it comes to making FINAL decisions. I will never forget sitting back in utter amazement in 1973 when I read that Harry Blackmun, a Nixon appointee, had written Roe v. Wade.

It is my firm belief that eight of the Justices are astonishingly honorable intellectuals--the sole exception being Clarence Thomas. The issues facing the Justices this week will be the readings of history books. The illustrious eight will be very serious when it comes time to sign off on their opinions. This is intellectual hardball time and I do not expect them to drop the ball.

Gore and Bush are fighting for the right to be President of the United States. To expect either one of them not to do so would be ludicrous. They are waging this fight with respect to an election fraught with irregularities and incompetence. It only shows how vulnerable we all are to the flaws of our technological age and our inability to operate the system. Trying to sort out this mess is a disaster. Fortunately, we have a group of people who have generally served us well over time: The United States Supreme Court. What an incredibly fine assemblage this has been during our history. I have faith in them to do the right thing. If they give us Bush, so be it!

The fat lady has not sung. Have faith in the finest organization on the Planet Earth.
