but it isn't quite clear to me what they mean by decreased demand,but they use the words "changed demand" and refer to demand for new products. This suggests that Intel goofed- the big demand is for new MMX and other products, and they can't make enough to meet this specific demand. If this situation goes on long enough it could open the door to competitors, but hopefully Intel is working on the problem. IF so, this is a good buying opportunity. What do you and others on this thread think the "changed demand" phrase means?
The other long term problem is falling nargins. I would think that nobody expects 60+% margins to last, and that it is built into the price, but who knows. In the long run I doubt if 50% margins are sustainable. Another question is why aren't Europeans buying computers? Their businesses are depressed in some cases but this can't be all the answer.
