Mephisto, Thanks for the NYT article. I hope the Justices have had time to reflect and rethink their place in this matter. But the harm they have done is irreparable, there is no way to finish the vote count before tomorrow's deadline. So the certification of Bush, and his subsequent term, will never have legitimacy, and in the future federal courts will feel obliged to participate in political elections, based on this precedent. All that was needed was another 24 hours for the state to put an end to this mess, within the time period specified by the US constitution. John
