Hi TS - thx for the article. Actually, it is not true. The issue was dated back to 1996. Statistically, there are strong indications that the newer the polling machinery, e.g., touch screen, the better the acceptance rate. It is only obvious.
That said, crying over spilled milk is indeed a meaningless exercise. One cannot undo this election year. Maybe that is why the Gore camp doesn't try to do anything about it [overvote,] even though some democrats keep crying foul. To the latter, that is fate. They should focus on the reform.
I do not agree with the central premise of the article. According to some rumor, the Miami-Dade recount of the undervote on Saturday actually favored Gov Bush. Of course, I can understand why the Bush camp doesn't want to take that chance. However, they shouldn't slam everyone who doesn't agree with them as fraud perpetrator. I am not even a democrat, but I like to see fairness prevails. Since the GOP tactics is if-you-are-not-with-me-you-are-against-me, am I part of the conspiracy <VBG>? My beef is that they are painting the majority of people who want fairness as democrat sympathizer
