translated through sight and sound of her
designated tensions: taut form, excellence
of glance, studied mouth- a concentration
of casual power. she ought hold
a bow and its quiver, should chase
game and bring venison to table.
yet, like artemis,
she is so quiet that
foxes sleep by her vigilance reclined.
transfixed, neither predator nor prey,
i watch
in an agony of detachment.
