Dan, All - another one from LB KEY NEWS: (2) DEATH TO OLD MPUs, SUCCESS FOR NEW MPUs. AMD. SOLD OUT OF K6s. K5s and 486s have declined faster than anticipated, but many customers have asked to switch to the K6. Overall 2Q sales still look above 1Q. AMD's 0.25 MICRON PRODUCTION SCHEDULE IS IS ACTUALLY LOOKING GOOD FOR INTC (INTC'S INTRO. OF 0.25 MICRON PROCESSORS AUGUST 1997 SHOULD BE A MAJOR COUP) AND NEUTRAL FOR AMD (PRODUCT AVAILABILITY OF 0.25 MICRON BY YEAR-END IS OKAY, PARTICULARLY IF, AS PROMISED, 100% OF AMD'S PRODUCTION MOVES TO 0.25 MICRON 2Q97); BOTH STOCK COULD CONTINUE TO MOVE UP. 0.25 micron production at AMD's Sunnyvale Submicron Development Center (SDC) has already begun. 0.25 micron K6 product at 300 MHz is anticipated to be available by year-end. The process will move to Austin during the next few weeks, and PCs should be available commercially 1Q98 with 0.25 micron 300 MHz K6s. That's behind INTC, but still awfully good.
