Here is a list of UN funded NGO's-- Share is listed:
un.org >>>
Nope! That is not a list of UN funded NGO's at all! That is another untruth, Street!
I know precisely what it is a list of. If you read it, you will know, too.
What it is NOT is a list of organizations funded by the UN.
You do not know how the world works, Street honey, and in particular how the world of NGO's work. Having worked overseas for the State Department for five years, and having dealt with many NGO's, I do.
If you want me to explain what "in association with the Department of Public Information at the UN" (the UN's version of the Department of State's International Information Programs, with which I am familiar) means, I will.
This is part of the UN's explanation:
Please note: Association of NGOs with DPI does not constitute their incorporation into the United Nations system, nor does it entitle associated organizations or their staff to any kind of privileges, immunities or special status.
Even consulative status, a higher one, doesn't entail funding the organization who has it-- and "associative" status means essentially that the UN will send them pamphlets about the UN to give to their constituency! It doesn't involve giving them a penny. Not a cent.
Now you have issued two false statements:
1) "Share International is mainly funded by the UN."
2) "Here is a list of UN-funded NGO's."
Street, I want you to produce evidence that either of these statements is true.
You either have a reading comprehension problem or you are dishonest.
We're about to find out. |
