If the speed doubles every 18 months, ...at 128 times faster than current speeds.

I would like to pose a question here for everyone. First a little background to the question. We have the ideal, opinion, and indication that PC's as we know them are reaching the end of their life. We also know that there we are moving toward a internet based computer where we actually will be acting like a "thin client" off the internet. Now my question is.... Do you think that even with these discontinous innovations, we will still need all the computing power in our hands that Intel can innovate as fast as they can? I think so...So I must also think that future software/programs we use will be as great and greater than we can possibly imagine now.
The assumption from this would be that Intel has no problem with their future.
