CSFB cuts QCOM EPS ests.
--12:42 pm - By Tomi Kilgore
Analyst Marc Cabi at CS First Boston has lowered fourth-quarter earnings per share estimates for Qualcomm (QCOM: news, msgs) to 23 cents from 28 cents and cut his 2001 estimate to $1.12 from $1.18 after the ruling by the International Court of Arbitration (see 8:03 item) that Qualcomm would have to share royalties with the Korean Electronics Telecommunications Research Institute. Cabi believes this ruling "highlights the problems Qualcomm could have in maintaining its current royalty levels," as the transition to third-generation technology, where other companies own intellectual property. QCOM is now $2.94 lighter at $100.31.
