Solon's anthropomorphic God?

I must have missed something.

African mystical belief seems, btw, similar in some ways to the Christian belief in satanic possession or original sin.

Here's another pretty bit of African lore:

AIDS is caused by having sex with a widow.

A bizarre (imo) belief held by some credulous Christians of which this African superstition reminds me is that one risks going to hell for having sex that doesn't culminate in ejaculation directly on the cervix. (That is, oral sex w/o a vaginal deposit, withdrawal, or condom use are sins subject to posthumous punishment.)

There are many others, of course.

Here's a Muslim fundamentalist one:

"Since the Taliban took power in Afganistan in 1996, women have had to wear burqua and have been beaten and stoned in
public for not having the proper attire, even
if this means simply not having the mesh covering in
front of their eyes. One woman was beaten to death
by an angry mob of fundamentalists for accidentally
exposing her arm (!) while she was driving."

The human psyche is so interesting.
