Jason, despite the fact that SanDisk has many cross licensing agreements and other cooperative ventures, such as the new plant in Virginia, built and operated jointly with Toshiba, there is no reason to believe that flash memory products that use SNDK patents have been commoditized. There appears to be a failure among many investors or analysts to understand the far reaching implications not only of the basic "987" patent but the dozens of more recent ones, which enhance the speed and reliability, as well as security characteristics of products using SNDK patents.

Today's news about SNDK being added to the S&P midcap 400 means not only that SNDK will show up in more institutional portfolios but more analysts will be following the company. One must assume they aren't stupid (late, yes; stupid, no), and as a result, SNDK will begin to reflect its true value.
