Terra Telecom Selects Alcatel to Provide IP-based Convergence Technologies to Enterprise Customers throughout the Midwest
Alcatel further strengthens convergence channel strategies in North America with new business partner
TULSA, Okla. & CALABASAS, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Dec. 11, 2000-- Alcatel (NYSE:ALA - news) and Terra Telecom, the leading telecom business solutions provider to Oklahoma and the surrounding states, today announced an agreement in which Terra Telecom will sell and support Alcatel's OmniPCX 4400 IP-based PBX and a complete line of Alcatel's enterprise convergence technologies.
With over 3,000 established customers, Terra Telecom specializes in providing businesses with a wide range of voice and data services including local dial tone, long distance service, voice messaging and T-1 Internet access. The agreement with Alcatel allows the company to significantly expand its portfolio of convergence technologies and market to companies that have network environments with multiple locations such as schools and government properties.
``With Terra Telecom's rate of growth, we plan to expand our sales channels beyond Oklahoma to Arkansas, Texas, Kansas and Missouri. Many customers in these areas will expect us to launch their first IP-based network,'' said Jerry McCart, president of Terra Telecom. ``What makes us so excited about the Alcatel OmniPCX 4400 is that it is a full-fledged PBX that supports IP connections as well as analog and digital connections. The OmniPCX 4400 platform allows users to migrate to IP at their own pace, at the same time, enjoying the rich feature set of a traditional PBX.''
``Terra Telecom has established themselves as a foremost provider of both e-business and telecommunications services. Since both Alcatel and Terra Telecom have such aggressive convergence strategies, they are an invaluable addition to our North American Business Partner Program,'' said Sergio Gemo, Alcatel vice president, channel sales. We look forward to a successful rollout of Alcatel's Omni family of voice and data products in all the markets they serve.``
