It seems that BGB has two points regarding Microsoft. The first I agree with -- in fact, posted pretty much the same thing some months ago. That is, that a weaker Microsoft is better for Identix, because a stronger Microsoft can strangle Identix or, at best, give it disadvantageous "take it or leave it" terms. The weaker MSFT finds itself to be, and the more there is real competition in the OS marketplace, say, by some miraculous Novell revival or by wireless OS competition, the more leverage Identix will have.
On the second point, that MSFT is presently writing its own biometric software suite, I have no direct evidence. Neither does BGB and neither does isit4real, as far as I can tell. So this issue is speculative. It's my strong sense that Microsoft is serious about using biometric authentication in its next generation technology; there's evidence for that everywhere. Isit's position that MSFT will use Identix software has some circumstantial support, and his logic is reasonable. (Especially when MSFT has lost an antitrust case recently to David Boies and the Department of Justice.) But we have no guarantees.
Meanwhile, BGB is on this thread, too, and he can speak for himself here. |
