Bingo! I just saw the ominous message "The sound Device is currently in use by another audio device" when checking audio in the Yahoo Messenger program.

That seemed odd in that no other application such as Firetalk was turned on.

Soooooooo, I started shutting things down and it appears that REALPLAYER was the culprit. It shows in my system tray upon startup.

All this of course leads to another question which is: Realplayer has been there all along and so was the audio in Firetalk and Yahoo. Any thoughts on this?
