well, first of all i'd like to point out that i disagree with the gold bugs who say 'only physical gold will be any good'. if the downturn turns into an outright deflation, holders of gold stocks will do much better than holders of bullion...see the 1930's for confirmation.

i can't recommend an asset allocation percentage, as standards of prudence vary from person to person...but considering that gold stocks just made 40-year lows in some cases (HM for example) i guess one can err on the side of a heavier-than-usual weighting here.
