I'd have to get a SCSI card, but I suppose SCSI CD-RW's typically come with them? Does it make a lot of difference one way or the other?

Is there a software package I should insist on? ADPT Easy CD Writer? I'd like to burn music and backup data.

Since I already have a CD Rom drive that reads fast enough, I suppose faster writing is more important. It only matters to me for convenience, though.

I'd like to get by on the inexpensive side, but I don't want to buy garbage either. Is there a cutoff price below which one is guaranteed to get junk?
