You got it backwards.

The main benefit for Coca Cola, Penzoil and others
is to provide incentives to boost sales of their products.

There was also another good article a couple weeks ago
in the NY Times about Coca Cola's local marketing efforts
taking advantage of local strategies.

Penzoil like Coca Cola is using incentives to buy products
to win prizes that sports nuts will buy Penzoil or
Coca Cola instead of competing products.

With Coca Cola , people who bought those products got
numbers to use to register for the opportunity to win
tickets and prizes to regional sports events that
college football nuts go wacko about.

Penzoil is doing the same for college basketball
with prizes. Registration gives "volunteered"
marketing info which generates data mining revenues.
Registration and prize incentives
also drives traffic to the web site.

I know I'm going to register for a chance to win the
Final Four tickets.

Unlike double click, this isn't simply banner advertising
for online surfing. This isn't simply a "pure play"
that has no connection to the world of brick and
mortars.

The primary purpose is to boost sales of products
for the corporate partner....and that is why "tigi"
is and has always primarily been a marketing company
utilizing the internet as a means for consumers
to directly interact with the company whose
products that these consumers are buying.

How tigi leverages the info from customers driven
to GS and other sites to increase traffic and
make "buy-throughs" is only part of the revenue stream

all of this of course is .......IN THEORY ............

If Coca Cola makes other deals, and other
recognized brand names like Penzoil come on board,
the viability of this model may be more than just
hitherto unrealized potential. Moreover, in these
symbiotic relationships the corporations still
drive traffic to tigi sites without tigi having
to incur the huge advertizing costs since
all these costs are piggy backed via the
recognized brand names sales and mass marketing
plus distribution efforts.

Again in theory.

Still waiting for it to work.

Then again guess you figure Coca Cola and Penzoil
still aren't real companies and wouldn't associated
with some "scam" bb.
