I agree with your current analysis of the job market.

I know one thing for sure, my friends graduating in May are getting lower or equal offers for the same companies doing the same jobs as they would have last year. For the previous 4 years, offers have gone up $2-2.5K per year. This is the tip of the iceberg imo.
