What do you think the Bush position in this contest is all about? Winning! (Of course that is the Gore position as well.) Just what kind of abuse do you think is likely to occur that's worse than a President taking office looking like a fraud from the start? If you're worried the ballots will be examined and threaten to overturn the election a year or more later, there is a solution. Get the Florida legislature to choose the electors - taking it out of the hands of the public voters anyway. Of course, there will be a downside to this. The ballots won't be either burned or hidden away, I think. Who has the authority to do it and who would dare?
