I was wearing a t-shirt late yesterday afternoon as I was leaving a locker room after working out. A young man who had just come in said he hoped I had a jacket for the cold weather that had suddenly arrived. I told him I had an old jacket in the trunk of my car for such occasions. He was amused at that sort of planning and preparation and said it reminded him of his 67-year-old father who always carries a pair of old coveralls in the event his car breaks down and he has to crawl under it for repairs. I explained to the young man that we older guys who grew up during or just after the Depression tend to think about things a bit differently. And he agreed. 78 degrees yesterday afternoon. 32 this morning. My Mexican heather, which is in full bloom, may have escaped a freeze, making the bees happy.
