One would think that most people would understand this concept.

I mean, after all, how many of us would condone changes in the rules after the fact, if we were at Las Vegas playing the games?

How about changing the rules in our inter-office football pools?

The most obvious course when one finds themselves in a situation where the current rules and statutes fail to cover a specific situation, is to enforce the prevailing statute, while encouraging reform of the statute in the future.

And better yet... inform people that if they don't follow the rules and cast their votes properly, then they have no one else to blame but themselves.

Everyone has the constitutional right to vote.

But NO ONE has the constitutional right to expect others to fix their screw ups.
