This comes as a surprise to me. As an outsider, I am mostly exposed to GOP stridency. I am aware that there are two camps--a purist camp that would rather go down in flames than give an inch and a pragmatic camp that wants to be moderate enough to get enough votes to win so that at least some of its agenda can be implemented. Is that latter group the Kumbaya wing? Or is it something else?

I read the principles of the RLC. Couldn't find much with which to disagree. My impression wss that the libertarian wing had been pretty much pushed aside by the fundamentalists and the yahoos over the last two decades. Perhaps Muth is talking about a subset of the libertarian wing that had gotten soft and caused the libertarians to lose footing within the GOP. I'd appreciate any clarification you can offer.
