Well, that's probably true. But it does tend to be organized in practice and to follow specific rituals. It also has a mythological basis. So it is simply more than just a philosophy, in the sense that existentialism is a philosophy, for instance.

Of course, philosophy itself was steeped in ritual, originally. It was not as academic, dry, and detached as we think of it today. It was much more a way of living than simply a way of thinking or "looking at the world". It was a way of "being in the world".

Sorry to just be jumping in here, I really haven't followed this thread.
