lml, the legitimacy of the presidency undermined by a manual recount of the votes? If the Bush presidency is that fragile, it is in big trouble. The legitimacy of the Bush presidency is harmed by the Supreme Court decision to stop the manual recount because many millions are more convinced than ever before the recount was stopped so the public would not find out tht Gore won the election. Now Bush can listen to the mantra every day for the next four years - We all know Gore won the election but the partisan supreme court would not all the votes to be counted.
