I'll venture an answer on two of your questions. Why is it that blacks vote overwhelming Demo? - Enlightened self-interest. Why didn't Gore carry Tenn? - A shift in the electorate since he was first elected to the Senate. Republican voters now outnumber Democrats in Tenn.
