Brad, I hate risking being wrong so quickly, but the longer it takes the Supreme Court to get a decision out, the better for Gore. A very quick decision would have almost certainly gone to Bush. My guess is that O'Conner will decide this one. She was upset that Florida hadn't addressed the earlier US Supreme Court decision. Then it did. I think it was O'Conner who learned from Boies that the Florida court's addition of the 383 votes were, in fact, perfectly legitimate (read the transcript of the US S. Ct. hearing). She was also probably part of the one or two justices concerned about the need for a stay to preserve an accurate count if uniform standards were adopted.

No prediction here that Gore wins, just that his chances are improved by this delay.
