More on IP 4700 SFS Numbers

If you look at these results, you see the following:

- RAID not used. Apparently, the performance with RAID enabled is
so horrendous that EMC decided not to submit the results. Note that
they use a RAID controller (an extra piece of hardware which includes
yet another processor) and still the performance is so lousy they
choose not to submit it. Actually, 2 RAID controllers and 155
disks.

- The load generators, the clients that are used to generate the
numbers versus the server were 4-processor Sun systems, each with
4 gigabytes of memory. Apparently, EMC loaded these clients with
memory and processors to try to get the clients individual numbers
as low as possible (yes, benchmarks are suppose to be client
neutral, but this isn't true, this can have an affect on the
overall results).

It would be interesting to see NTAP's marketing response to
these numbers because they seem absolutely horrible to me.
