I went into the DOE reports to find out what happened to the SPR release. I compared the 10/27/00 week to the 12/1 week. During this time is when most of the SPR should have been processed. Results were VERY interesting:

from 10/27 to 12/1 the changes were:
non-SPR oil: +8 mil
gasoline: +3
kerosene: -.7
HO:+6.4
resid: +3.1
unfinished: -2.7

TOTAL CHANGE IN ALL STOCKS (SPR INCLUDED): -13 million barrels

SPR release did nothing more than mask the problem. And yes, you appear to be right in saying the SPR releases are completed.

Investors who didn't follow the numbers were taken for a ride by our wonderful government. Stocks have been dropping by an average of over 2 million barrels a week for the last six weeks.
