I suppose that Bush & co. don't really want power at all, and are running reluctantly, only because somebody has to stop the great Democrat/UN conspiracy.

Aren't they all a bit power-hungry? Do you honestly believe that if their positions were reversed, Bush wouldn't have made every move that Gore did?
