I disagree, Scrapps. I urge everyone to read the minority opinions of the U.S. Court, which sided for the recounts to happen. You see, the Florida Legislature said Gore could have a hand count in specified counties. But the Florida electoral system, under the leadership of its secretary of state, failed to deliver that recount.

I don't fault the political make-up of the U.S. Supreme Court, it is what it is; I don't fault the political make-up of the Florida Supreme Court, it is what it is. However, I do fault the Florida Legislature and the Floridian secretary of state.

The dissent of the U.S. ruling is extremely powerful. This dissent will ring far and wide and will forever haunt a Bush presidency.

My hope is that there are electors of good conscience, who will know what happened and who will act accordingly by not helping deliver the presidency to Bush. He didn't win. I continue to contend that Bush will lose in history as a result of what happened. Perhaps two or three electoral college members could switch their votes and save him from this disgrace.
