and whats wrong with beatific visions? Or epiphanys or peak experiences?
or striving for Compassion and Nirvanna ?
I think Buddha's and Christ's whole thrust and vision was to
extend an opportunity for others to share in such
experiences.
Great artists or scientists have experienced some of the most brilliant of all discoveries known to man when they were lost to themselves, in an altered state of reverie, and dropped the burden of
ego interference.
Why is "obliteration of the self " so threatening to you?
didn't the C Bible say that there is a natural
letting go and process of ascension?
when I was a child i spoke as a child....

why torment the truth so much?
This is exactly what the Buddha was
talking about , by "obliterating the self"....
an end to the childhood , of confusion and ignorance.
What you achieve is a more highly refined , compassionate , more sentient composed and sensitive individual...living well within his own skin.
What is the higher self ? Well eat, breath , stretch, and purify for years ...think good thoughts and deeds and speech , right mindfulness , and the other Eight Noble Truths , which comprise the Middle Way.
and you'll maybe find out....do nothing , change nothing.
What you, or Cosmx, or Solon or X, jesus or buddha ....all of us are ....we all are not playthings , but the most highly refined complex organisms in the universe. Life is not petty , i think you well know ....and suffering is real, but 2/3rds of our own creation . It is the obliteration of that part of the self that causes the confusion ...that's the key.
We are living so that we learn to be played to the highest degree of mastery...
Verily i say to you brother...You are the Violin , and the Violinist,
and the symphony is within.
something wrong with playing a masterpiece ?
Or learning to become a more accomplished musician?
To become something you are not , you must first become changed and lose what parts of the self , that hinder the path to mastery .
