Tom--I wonder who I should thank for all of this presidential stuff. I have a bad taste in my mouth that won't go away.
To the American public I give so much credit. They didn't riot in the streets or seek a military coup to install their favorite. They actually trusted the system.
Who should I thank for this taste in my mouth? Elected representatives played the dirtiest politics on both sides. Neither side cared about the real vote in Florida, they cared about the fact it was so close the election could be seized. The game was count until our choice wins.
Should I thank the courts? The courts that in the end didn't seek to rule on the law but on who they wanted to win.
And people speak of how it will be difficult for our new president to get the people behind him. Why should we be? For the good of the country? What a mealy mouthed thing for participants in this disgusting display to say.
As I said the American public deserves tremendous credit. They deserved so much better than this.
