In other words, I don't think it's pejorative to refer to Buddhism as a religion at all. You seem to feel differently, and you must certainly have reasons for feeling so.

Of course it is not pejorative. And no, I don't feel differently. I try to keep a balance. The question of whether Buddhism ought to be called Religion is not all that compelling for me. If it exhorts people to assert a superiority over others; If it counsels racism, slavery or hatred...I will oppose it. I don't care what it is called. I brought up the alternative viewpoints because they happen to be there. Buddhism is defined in various ways by different people. This is just a fact. I don't know that it matters how you call it..but people ought not to reach for the pot till all the cards have been flipped.
