It seems that Buddhism is willing to understand that an evolution (perhaps even a revolution) in human thought and culture is in progress. At least the Dalai Lama seems to be embracing this. If you imagine an omnipotent force surveying the landscape, how impressed would it be with incense and burnt offerings? I can't imagine how any of the material or ritualistic trappings would impress anything, let alone an omniscient being.

However, personal voyages of discovery seem like they would be understood. It is sad that the guy in the story related by Greg was so immersed in the mystical that he failed to be able to grasp the mystical inside himself.

Given a moment of introspection, I'm sure that most of us could probably do better than we are. This is a philosophy of personal and spiritual growth. The "problem" is it is personal and non-transferable. By sharing ideas we can increase total awareness (that is my hope anyway) and introduce a notion of angerless divinity that can exist in any of us. But you don't have to go through hoops to get it. You make numerous personal journeys, on step at a time.

Finally a "step" program I can embrace! It doesn't even require excessive indulgence in some vice to start it. The rules are simple. Atone. Love. Learn. Grow. Amen.
