Read the article in the NY Times today regarding how the Gore campaign erred in its legal strategy. USSC would have allowed statewide recount with standards but time ran out. They had no choice but to cut off standardless count. The jist of times article is that too much time wasted in protest phase which cost them at contest. Also FSC could have at any time interceded with rules. The didnt do that because only pre-existing rules were those of the democrats in 1990 in palm which DID NOT count dimples.
You are right. This is a horrible outcome for an election but the FSC solution would have been more so. Crux of the matter was sanctity of the 12/12 date for safe harbor. It doesnt appear to be a big deal but if violated now would have opened up a can of worms for every pres election to follow.
You would agree with me that Gore should concede now and healing should begin and nasdaq should go up.
