I spent several years running Supply Boats out to the
Tankers. I found it odd that during shortages large fleets
of loaded tankers would be offshore.

Later I connected that the supply demand works backwards
"when the GOV..buys lots of oil , ( tax payer ) then oil
actually gets cheaper to the public"
The first major oil crunch came right after Nixon got out
of Nam.. ( profits are tied to volume ) so when we have
a war and the military is buying oil they can cut prices
when the war ends they create a false shortage to
maintain profits.
