Michael,

The ramifications of the Supreme Court buying the equal protection arguments against recounts are mind-boggling. I can't see how they haven't just declared the voting methods used in the most the country to be unconstitutional.

If county-by-county recount standards are a good reason not to do recounts, how can using modern voting equipment in the suburbs but 30 year old Votomatics in the cities be constitutional? How can that not violate equal protection?

The Congressional Black Caucus is already hitting the warpath on this issue.
