Well, if you look at their 5 year charts, there NO similarity. PTEC has been a dog. WIND has soared.

Wind River's success has NOTHING to do with a size advantage. In fact they were, until recently, smaller than their competitors. Their fast growth rate is attributable to greater market acceptance of Tornado/VxWorks, the inability of competitors to match their products, as well as the foresight they had in earlier days of making VxWorks run on multiple platforms. It has nothing to do with economy of scale.
