Joe, re: I may be wrong in reading of this, but doesn't the phrase "state rights" have more to do with the citizens of the state being able to pass laws (through their elected legislature) and live under those laws, rather than the rights of the state judiciary to trample all over those laws. No. It means the state retains it's sovereignty, to make and interpret by it's own courts, laws, without federal intervention. Controling elections at the state level is (sorry, was) probably the most important of these rights. John
