I applaud Bush for appointing Powell and Rice to his cabinet. Does anyone but me see the irony that the highest appointments of black people have been done by Republicans? (Thomas is the other one I am thinking of.) Ron Brown was Secretary of Commerce, but when he died, the appointment went to a white man. Does anyone but me see the irony of blacks arguing that Powell "isn't black" because he's a Republican?
