If we admit (and you have) that many of God's motives are unknown and perhaps incomprehensible to us, why should we believe that truth is one? Or benevelance?

That is a good question. In my analysis I found the only one who didn't have a hidden agenda (hidden from me, anyhow) was ME. So a philosophy that had me at the center seemed to avoid a lot of the intentional deceptions that seemed to manifest in organized religions. Sure I can be self-deceived or deluded, but it can't be an active process unless I'm really ill mentally.
