Lifted at The Zoo: Yes its time to give up. by: eurotoga 12/13/00 8:29 pm Msg: 203732 of 203749 I have been reading these posts for over a year and a half but have never responded because I was interested in the fundamentals of Cpq and not the cheerleading or bashing. But 18 months later I wonder if there is any reason to hold on. We have all tried to rationalize what was going on with this company and were always waiting with fingers crossed--maybe it was EP fault, maybe when they convert to direct sales, maybe when Asian sales pick up, oh maybe it's the Euro's Fault, when everyone realizes that we are not just a box maker, if Stings album hits #1, when the new advertising campaign is launched (which is crap by the way)when I-paq puts Palm out of business, when we get more into storage, when Alta Vista comes public, when we win back Wall Streets trust, when our CMGI investment is fully realized, when our super computer decodes the genetic code and beats Bobby Fisher. The daily money report flows from Throttle, the percentage of institutional ownership, the last 10 trades, the runs up to 34 and then back to 23 or now 18--those thoughts "why didn't I unload it at 32" as it sunk back to the mid 20s--because at 34 it was going to go to 60, right? Coach, Kristy Kreme, Rubycherokee, dullhead (Throttle?) and all the others --honest true believers, great logic but dead wrong just like me. Remember Throttles mantra "2000 year of the Compaq longs" We were waiting--believing, seeing the light at the end of the tunnel-but, no way--sorry to say no brighter now than in April 1999- nothing is coming down the pike that will change things. I wanted to believe Cappallas-bought the Business Week Mag and all--ate up his hard work ethic-everthing to the internet rhetoric but it was empty--two weeks ago he "had a great Thanksgiving" now he warns--without even a hint of regret or explanation. But he's got his salary and his bonus--he can listen to Fleetwood Mac as he golfs with his wife--so his options may not be worth anything--so what?, its not his earned money-- but it is mine. Hope someday this company can find its niche--but its time to admit--I was wrong and move on--gave it more than enough time and lost quite a bit of money- and yet we can always fool ourselves and explain how if you just hold on a little longer........... Best to all of you who hold on. |
