A Shift on U.S. Security Policy

Excerpt:

•The Middle East. The Israeli-Palestinian conflict will be the priority issue unless Mr. Clinton pulls off a peace agreement in his remaining weeks in office. The Bush team has ties to the Arab world, especially through Mr. Bush's father, who as president led the coalition that won the Gulf War and then worked on the foundations for a regional Arab-Israeli peace.

In confronting Baghdad, a Bush administration would have no obvious alternative to the current policy of containment. The new team may encourage support for dissident Iraqi factions, but a new military action to topple Mr. Saddam would run counter to the Bush team's emphasis on clear-cut campaigns with an exit strategy.

The most intriguing possibility involves Iran: A Bush administration might open toward Tehran in hopes of finding an ally against Baghdad and also of creating a shorter, more economical pipeline to the oil wealth at the Caspian Sea.

December 13th might indeed be remembered as a black day by the Israelis (and their American backers). That's why Bibi Netanyahu is scrambling to get back in the action --he's probably the only Likud leader who's got enough leverage with the US....

As regards Mossad shenanigans, just don't count your chickens yet.... Let us remember that "bipartisanship" has become the Beltway's hottest buzzword --but who told the American people that bipartisanship actually is just a proxy for a pro-Israel policy?? I expect the many Jewish lobbies to closely watch the appointing process in the forthcoming Bush administration --Oh my, what a sea change it'll be when compared to Clinton's-- and count their chickens... If they figure out that the Bush administration is not kosher enough then... Ooh-la-la! The TimeWarnerCNNs and the NYTs will readily be fed with mudslinging material against Bush's key advisers. When I think that Jesse and his Negro groupies believe that bipartisanship is all about spanking new ballot-gear and a coupla more foodstamps for minorities --ROFL!
