Both the speeches last night deserve applause.

Mr Gores concession was a superb step aside, He accorded the fight with a slant that was palatable to most, we all know his investment in this was not one of whimsy.

Mr Bush said more than once that he would try and be President of all Americans, hence I accord him with greater respect. Will he deal with the Hegemony of the parties, that is doubtful but any ray of hope is welcome.

His speech was rife with nuance giving those of us on the sidelines a sense that the Republican party is aware of the statistical problems they face for 2002/2004.

The loosers in this whole battle are those who dont buy into the reconcilliation message. That is the big fact, JJ is now out on a limb, with Colin Powell and CR in the administration, true leadership from people of color will be visible. This is very encouraging in that the black population IMO has made tactical as well as strategic errors of judgement these last few weeks. I've posted here that the 90% voting rate of the blacks is troublesome for them, in loosing they have exposed themselves to a whole range of
dichotomies.

These will be tough to resolve in the face of positive and proactive black participation in the new administration.

The emotional content of the present momentum will not last.
Look for a shakeup in the black electorate after 2002 mid terms.Reagan was the only elected president in modern times to poll over 30 % of the electorate.

I see clear and positive parallels for this administration, the negatives of the first period will not stand as the energy of those on the sidelines is being threatened to the extent the negatives will cast off momentum which will be picked up by the side line players and out of fear, or loathing, they will overwhelm the negative.

Things will work out, if Bush is President of all the people.
