EL RENO, Okla., Dec 14, 2000 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- WasteMasters, Inc. (OTCBB:WAST) has named John B. Callagher to the position of Chief Operating Officer of its wholly owned subsidiary Appalachia Environmental Recovery, Inc. ("AERI").

Mr. Callagher has a long history of plant processing and operations experience that will prove vital to AERI's development.

"This is a great opportunity for me. I am very excited to be working together with CEO Bill Schureck to transform AERI into a leader in alternative fuel manufacturing," said Mr. Callagher. "I have been entrusted by Bill Schureck and the Board of Directors to put together a top flight team to make this plant operational in 6 months."

"John's day to day management and team building experience is crucial to the success of AERI," said newly appointed CEO Bill Schureck. Mr. Callagher most recently ran his own operations management consulting practice working with business owners that required expertise in plant reorganizations, restructurings, team building, identifying new business opportunities, raising capital and negotiations.

From 1989-1995, Mr. Callagher was VP Operations/General Manager of Masterleo Inc. His duties included managing day to day operations for field service, process controls and instrumentation serving major national and international food processors. He held the position of VP Operations Management Consulting Services for Operations Management Group a private consulting firm from 1984-1989. From 1982-1984 he was the VP of Sales/Marketing at Covert Manufacturing where he was responsible for precision machining serving the National Truck Manufacturing/Engine/Transmissions Builders.
