Ron, I'm really not sure what you're asking. Of course I picked up the slack for him. That's what the families of deployed service members do. I'm sure I did the income taxes. I don't recall anything about absentee ballots while he was away. Perhaps there wasn't a Presidential election that year. Since we moved around so much, I don't recall us ever voting in local elections, just voting absentee every four years.
I don't know where we're going with this. Lotsa red herrings here. My only point ever was that military voters should be required to cast their votes according to rules, whatever they are, just like everybody else. That's all. Yes, I know that there can be special difficulties, but there are solutions to those difficulties, which include help from their service, help from their families, planning ahead, taking responsibility, getting the rules changed wherever practicable to make them easier to comply with, etc. The solution is not, IMO, giving them a pass on the rules because it would be unpatriotic to do otherwise. Or because they tend to vote Republican. Or because they're a bunch of helpless babies, as you portray them, who can't find the wherewithal to cast a legal ballot. Ever heard of "No excuse, Sir?"
