Dino Christofilis, senior vice president of investor relations at Infospace, said the lower EPS estimate by Merrill was a late response.

"This is old news," Christofilis told CBS.MarketWatch.com. He said the estimate should have been at 14 cents a share more than a month ago, when the company revised its estimates to the 12 cents to 14 cents a share range and announced the acquisition of Locus Dialogue.

Responding to the Merrill downgrade, Wedbush Morgan Securities analyst Scott Sutherland reiterated a "strong buy" rating on InfoSpace, telling clients in a research note that there will still be growth in the company's shift in focus to international Web sites.

He also pointed to integrated, value-added applications that InfoSpace acquired in the Go2Net deal, including message boards, games, financial content, and search-engine technology.

Here they're quoting Blodget as the ML InfoSpace analyst. The Wedbush Morgan actually sounded like he had a modicum of understanding.
