I think the JTS drives are much quieter than most other drives out there also. Its like a 43 dBA noise level if you look at the specs. For reference, I believe normal conversation is about 65 to 70 dBA, and in general the apparent noise level drops in half every 10 dB (noise power level drops in half every three dB, but your ear works logarithmically, and hence compensates...)

I have to admit though, I am more interested in the Champion drives. I would buy those over most drives out there, for a combination of lower noise levels, encapsulation, and also the AV circuitry (continuous data throughput with embedded servo, which is cool if you are doing any multimedia stuff, such as streaming video or audio to or from the hard drive....).
