EL...The article doesn't state when.
In the tech field, Compaq (CPQ), which announced a $1 billion buyback on Dec. 1, and fellow computer-hardware maker Hewlett-Packard (HWP), which said on Nov. 20 it would buy back $2 billion of its stock, were also among our screen results. Of course, the bad news is that both companies are facing slowing consumer demand. But if that bad news is indeed already priced into the stock, the future must be brighter. So if sluggish computer sales can't boost a company's earnings per share, reducing the number of shares can.
I am going to invest in Pharmaceuticals....hopefully, they can reduce the aging process so I can live long enough to see CPQ at 35/share.
Three years ago who would have thought we would be hoping for CPQ to "hold 18"? Bought some XRX at 5 recently...hopefully I don't have the same opportunity with CPQ.
With all this mess does anybody know why GWB wanted to be President?
Greenspan and Bush Sr. didn't get along ... hope it's not the same with GWB.
