Dems call supply side tax cuts voodoo and now eschew Keynes as well. The are into the holy grail of surplus and debt reduction even when it threatens the golden goose. My middle class tax cut revolves around repealing the marriage penalty which clinton vetoed as well as raising the income at which folks are subject to taxes which well greatly help lower middle class folks. Reducing the 41% top rate as well as the lower ones is what fairness demands. Remember under Reagan top rate was 28% in the Bradley bill in 1982. We can certainly afford to retrace some of that.
Gores targeted tax cuts reward people who acted in the way he approved and was mired in more regulations and forms.
Fred, you are a smart guy, you know this all so why cant we get some consensus on tax policy in a non-booming economy. Its madness to talk of surplus and debt reduction now. Fiscal stimulus preferably in the form of tax cuts plus targeted spending(drug program for seniors) is what is needed. Tell your party you want to travel this path too and lets hash out all the details and get it passed.
